Rating:
A sleeping beauty. A kingdom frozen in time. Only one can save them all.
Once upon a time…
Lord Siward intended to go hunting, but when he stumbles upon a ruined castle and accidentally wakes the mysterious maiden sleeping inside, he knows his holiday is over.
With the kingdom in trouble, Siward should be protecting the realm, but every time Rosamond looks at him, he gets lost in the girl’s green eyes. Who is the mysterious beauty, and why does he feel she holds the key to the kingdom’s deliverance?

So irony of all ironies: I have read all matter of Sleeping Beauty retellings: ones by Anne Rice, by Alex Flinn, by indie authors and a whole bunch of other ones.
I have not read the original.
Like Ever.
This one was very different than any other retelling I had read.
I loved this retelling.
Awaken was captivating and Rosamund was one to root for. She did not back down nor did she stay quiet.
She knew what she wanted and went about getting it.
Siward was very supportive and adorable and I wanted to protect him and occasionally slap him. But the book was really enjoyable as a whole and the narrator was really good.
Honestly, there’s like nothing wrong with this one.
I loved that in this retelling, time did not stand still. The story moved on. The intricacies of the fairytale were kept and then added on to perfectly.
I legit listened to this in one sitting.
I highly recommend this for an afternoon read!
