Fly by Demelza Carlton, an audiobook review

by Demelza Carlton

narrated by Mary Sarah

The third book in the Romance a Medieval Fairytale series, the Audiobook was published by Tantor in 2018

Once upon a time…

Princess Ava was sent to a neighbouring kingdom as a lady-in-waiting to her sister, their future queen. Until a runaway horse, a case of amnesia and a cold-hearted king conspire to bring her to the prince’s attention.

Now the prince believes Ava is his bride, and her sister is just a serving maid. One thing is certain: the prince must marry one of the princesses, or there will be war.

But when all’s fair in love and war…who will win the battle for the prince’s heart?

Disclaimer: I’ve never read the original GOOSE GIRL. I only vaguely know of it. I’ve read THORN by intisar khanani, which is the extent of my experience with this fairytale.

That being said, I think that Demelza Carlton turned this story on its head in such an interesting way. I was completely immersed in FLY.

I also adore that Carlton doesn’t stick to just one country or one seeming nationality in this series. So far, all three stories in this series have been different backgrounds and I believe that lends a bit of nuance, if you will, to the story.

I am loving this series and am so excited for the next one!

Let me know what you think!
